A society that welcomes people who are migrants and refugees, where we will live well together.
Britain is an inclusive country that treats all people with respect and dignity. Our immigration is effective, humane and fair. We uphold and strengthen our tradition of offering sanctuary to people who seek protection.
To work with partners to put the case for an open and welcoming Britain in a way that has greater impact.
We do this by encouraging and facilitating more coordinated and coherent communication on migrant, refugee and integration issues. We work to ensure that the positive arguments for migration achieve more cut-through and impact in the public debate. We do this by helping partners to talk about these issues in ways that reach the widest possible audience and have the most impact on public opinion.
How we work
IMiX (Integration and Migration Exchange) is an agency that offers free communications expertise and hands-on support to organisations of all sizes working on migration, refugee protection and integration in the UK.
We don’t have a public voice or take positions of our own. Instead, we provide behind-the-scenes back-up to organisations and groups who share our vision and who do want to be part of the public debate.
We do this by working with such organisations to understand the story they want to tell and helping them tell it. We provide both advice and capacity. We can help groups right through the process of planning public communications, implementing campaigns and working with the media.
We are not a membership organisation and we do not charge for our services. We are open to supporting any group who works on migration in all its forms in the UK and wants our help.
Who we work with
IMiX works with organisations of all sizes, from large NGOs to volunteer-led local support groups. We cover the whole spectrum of the migration debate – from EU citizens, to migrants’ rights, to refugee protection, asylum and integration.
IMiX believes that every organisation working on migration or refugee issues has a story to tell and by telling that story well can contribute to creating a more positive debate on migration in this country.
With bigger organisations, this may mean mounting major national media campaigns. But IMiX doesn’t just work at this level. We also help much smaller groups to raise the profile of their work, to generate publicity for their events or to tell a particularly special story about a remarkable or inspirational person.
