Who we work with
IMIX works with people and organisations in the migration sector, including refugees and asylum seekers as well as the individuals, organisations and charities which advocate and represent them. We work with small, grassroots charities at a local level such as Asylum Link Merseyside, Friends of Napier Barracks (Kent), The Refugee Buddy Project (Hastings), Maryhill Integration Project (Glasgow) and Action Asylum helping to build communications capacity and expertise. We also operate at a national level with larger NGOs like Refugee Council, Show Racism the Red Card, Together With Refugees, IOM UK and Counterpoints Arts (for Refugee Week) collaborating on major campaigns and policy asks. Working strategically is also a key element of our work supporting joined up working across the sector, ensuring messages and campaigns are clear and cohesive.
We seek to build the confidence of people with lived experience to share their stories in a safe and empowering way. We do this through building strong relationships and networks, supporting people at every stage of media engagement.
We also work with journalists through sharing case studies, alerting them to emerging issues and encouraging them to report on migration and refugee-related issues in a humane, informed and compassionate way. We have worked with local, regional and national media including the BBC, ITN, Channel 4, The Guardian, The Independent, BBC Radio and Mirror Group Newspapers.
